The advanced version of low-cost tablet Aakash-2 was launched in India
on 11-11-2012 by the Indian President,Mr Pranab Mukherjee.
The new version ‘Aakash 2’is priced Rs. 1,130(22$) for students,
which will be made available to students of engineering colleges and
universities in India.
It has 1 GHz processor, 512 MB R.A.M and a 7-inch touch screen and a battery
working for three hours of normal operations.
‘Aakash 2’ is the result of collaboration between Indian
Institute of Technology (IIT-Mumbai) and Centre for Development of Advanced
Computing (C-DAC).
The device can also be run on the Linux operating system.
